Up and coming classes will be held as follows.
Indoor classes at Brunel University (Uxbridge Campus) (£12 per person or £10 if booked 2 weeks in advance)A discount of £5 per couple applies if you book three or more classes together (including aerials classes).
Watch this space for further dates.
These classes are usually split into three sections consisting of the airsteps themselves, a swing jive routine incorporating some of the aerials, and a taster class.
In the aerials section (approximately 1 1/2 hours) we take you through five or six of the safer social airsteps, going step by step where necessary, and giving handy hints on such aspects as balance, bounce and keeping the beat. We would just like to point out that ladies do not have to be suicidal to attempt this class.
In the swing jive section you will learn or attempt a routine incorporating several of the airsteps just learnt. The aim will be to give you the confidence to use these moves both socially and during displays when the space allows. We also use this routine to introduce you to some of our favourite lively, swingy, wacky jive moves. This could prove quite a challenge to those who only have modern jive experience - so rise to it!
The final section could be a taster class in tango, salsa, hip hop, ‘shag’, blues, dips, jazz steps, charleston etc. Or it could simply concentrate on using the breaks and on feeling the music to the tip of your toes. Oooooooohhhhh!
Different airsteps are taught in different classes and classes are labelled (A to G) to help you distinguish between them when booking. However parts 2 and 3 may well change or develop when the same class is repeated.
There will be a short break between lessons, so bring drinks and snacks
There are no rules about who takes part in the classes. Energy and enthusiasm are far more important than dancing ability, though the swing jive and other dance styles may prove very challenging for beginners.
Despite all safety precautions taken, accidents can happen. You take part in the classes at your own risk! All participants must sign a disclaimer before each class.

The Brunel classes are held at Brunels Uxbridge campus in the Sports Centre. To get to the Sports Centre it is better to access the campus via the back entrance in Kingston Lane, rather than the main entrance in Cleveland Road. For location maps and instructions on how to get there, check Brunel’s 2-page Uxbridge Campus Access Map (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader). If you haven’t got access to Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can still view Brunels Access to Uxbridge Campus web page, but it is less clear from this how to get to the Kingston Lane entrance.
