Rena & Andy

Twice UK Airsteps champions and recently crowned swing champions at London’s 100 Club, Rena and Andy have been passing on their specialised knowledge to would-be acrobatic dancers, jivers and lindyhoppers for over five years.

Their clear teaching, infectious personalities, non-stop energy and now-famous chicken impressions make them a favourite with all who know them.

Since last year’s Beach Boogie event they have been teaching and performing all over the UK as part of the Jump ’n’ Jive team.

Nigel & Nina

Winners of several jive championships, Nina and Nigel’s specialised classes and workshops have become a popular fixture in many dancers’ diaries.

They will be bringing their wide knowledge of jive related dances to the Isle of Wight along with their own inimitable brand of wit and style.

Nigel and Nina bring a slight air of sophistication to the Jump ’n’ Jive team as they teach and perform alongside Andy and Rena.

Gillian

Finalist with her dance partner Mikhail in the 1998 UK Closed Latin Championships, Gillian will be returning to Beach Boogie to bring a much needed air of sophistication. She was a major hit last year with instruction in Rumba, Cha,Cha & Tango – all designed specifically for those of us with only a knowledge of Modern Jive.

Gillian has also performed recently in Europe & the United States, adding the Californian State Latin Title to her long list of previous honours. She is currently the coach and choreographer for the London University Ballroom & Latin team (the 1998 University Latin Champions).

Dan & Lisa

Dan and Lisa have developed their very own style of jive by blending the conventional modern jive moves with hip hop and street jazz.

They have won national jive championships, competing both as a couple and as part of a team. However they are possibly more renowned for their disqualification when the judges didn’t quite know how to classify their outstanding performance.

Their teaching is more familiar to dancers around the Sheffield and Stoke areas, although last year they were also a major hit at Jive Bug’s MJC event.

Christina & Harold

Based in Munich, Germany, Christine and Harold have established themselves as one of the top Lindy Hop couples in the world (having just placed 7th in the World Lindy Hop Championships in New York).

Although they have only been dancing as a couple for the past year, individually they have also been successful in many of Europe’s major dance competitions over the last decade including the the 1997 UK Lindy Hop Championships and the UK Modern Jive Open.

This year they will be bringing their expertise in Lindy to the Isle of Wight along with classes in Boogie Woogie (the European variety of fast Rock & Roll).
