A whole five hours packed full of everything that you could ever want to know about Blues, the music and the dance.
We will be covering the basic patterns and variations before moving on to the more advanced moves, lifts and drops that can be added to this most sensual of dance styles.
The music and its variations will also form a large part of the workshop and we will be concentrating on both the style and techniques involved with the most complex of rhythm changes.
Partners are not needed as we will be rotating during the lessons. The workshops start at 12 noon and will finish at around 5pm.

Two rooms of sumptuous music, one concentrating on jive and swing with the other — “The Blues Bar” — being just as the name describes... Blues! The evening will start at 8pm and finish at the haunting hour MIDNIGHT!

I’m often asked — “What is The Blues?” As a Musician I would answer that “Blues is a set of chord changes in a 12 or 16 bar pattern, differentiated with flattened 3rds, 5ths & 7ths often used by players as a basis for improvisation.”
The Dancers answer is more complex. “Blues is an elaborate fusion of ideas from every dance style; a mix between the mambo of Dirty Dancing to the romanticism of Ballet. The tempo and space given by the music allows a freedom of interpretation and improvisation that is seldom found in most partner dances.”
